Versatile helpers that can even prevent water damages
You would like to recommend your customer a great planter that perfectly matches his furniture, but you are concerned that the container is not one hundred percent waterproof and a high quality carpet or wood floor could be damaged? Or you are already thinking about the tedious and time-consuming work of lining a container with pond foil and its disappointing result: Still not being sure if the pond foil stops the water and the ugly look of the container. For this problem, there is a very simple and extremely practical solution: liner.
Liners as cheap insurance
Plant containers, bowls and vases are made of various materials such as ceramic, stainless steel, wood or other natural materials. From the outside it is clear that many materials like wood are leaking. However, there are some materials like fiberglass, which are generally regarded as „waterproof“, but which you should never trust completely in terms of leak tightness. In both cases, the use of plant liners for indoor plantings is recommended if you want to be sure that the container does not leak and cause any damage to the floor. Do not restrict your choices because of safety aspects and do not avoid choosing the best planter for your ambience just because of being doubtful concerning possible leakage. You do not have to worry (if using a plant liner) about transport problems like fine, undetectable hairline cracks which may impair the leakage protection. Therefore small accidents and jostling with the container (for example if placed on runs) must not be a problem. Better safe than sorry! The “investment” in a saving plant liner is absolutely profitable compared to the trouble and costs water damage can cause. Therefore a liner is a relatively favorable premium that pays off and gives you security.
Quick & easy usage
The plant liners are made of very flexible and soft plastic, tear-resistant and available in round and square versions. Thanks to its slightly tapered shape they blend perfectly with any type of container and can be used easily. When choosing the suitable plant liner, the diameter of the planter, vase or bowl you would like to fill, is decisive. The liners are available in diameters from 15 to 80 centimeters; consequently there is a solution for almost any size of planter. First, you have to fill the planter pending to the favored plantation depth, to avoid cavities and then you can insert the plant liner. If the liner protrudes from the container, even that is not a problem: With common household scissors or a simple knife, you can mount the liner quickly into the right shape and cut him to the required plantation height. This is a great advantage for flat containers like bowls as well as hydro-plantings, where a special planting depth has to be achieved. Of course, water level indicators can also be used in the plant liners.
Step 1: Inserting the liner
Insert the selected liner into the planter.
Step 2: Cutting the liner
Cut the liner with the scissor at the right size for your planter.
Step 3: Placing the liner
For most planters it is possible to place the liner under the vessel’s upper edge.
Bye bye calcium deposits
Unattractive calcium deposits and stains caused by leaking moisture will be a thing of the past. Also ingredients from fertilizers or soil that can damage the surface of the container with time, have no chance thanks to the plant liners. Moreover its use ensures that less irrigation water can evaporate. These advantages can also be used for outdoor containers by drilling small holes in the bottom of the liner before planting. So all rainwater can drain easily and there will be no water spots in the area of the planting bale.
Adaption of the plantation depth of tall planters
Especially columnar and very tall planters are the ones causing the question how to fill out and replant them optimal. A complete filling with soil is not recommended: The irrigation water will drain away into the floor of the planter and the plant won’t receive any needed water. Additionally soil will be unnecessarily consumed. If lightweight filling material will be adequate, Styrofoam inserts with different diameters will help. Simply stack the Styrofoam blocks to the desired planting depth. However, heavy fillers such as expanded clay provide for an extra stability. It is particularly important that the filler cannot sag and the plant liner including the planting can stand alone on the filler.
An outdoor planter becomes an indoor planter
You have seen a beautiful outdoor planter (which of course has a drainage) and would love to place it indoors? You can do this without any problems: Provisory hide the flow and fill the container with filler material to the required planting depth. Now you can use the plant liner and a planting of an outdoor planter in the office, living room or office premises is no longer a problem.
Real gentlemen – discreet and unremarkable
Liners are available in two different colors: beige and transparent. The beige-colored variant consists partially of recycled material. The transparent liner is manufactured from new raw material and is ideally suitable for containers and bowl that are not completely opaque. Thus, no liner will be visible under the surface of the container. If the planter or the vase has a retracted rim, you can push the flexible liner under it and hide it. Alternatively, you can shorten the liners by using knives or scissors that it can be easily hidden under the soil. Beautiful solutions are also rocks and shells, which can be ideally used to cover the liner and give the decoration that certain something. For floristic arrangements with floral foam, plant liners are a practical and safe solution as well.
Flexible and easy repotting thanks to plant liners
Especially the repotting of plantings is always associated with a very large effort which can be reduced significantly by using liners: The liner prevents the spread of roots, so that the insert including the plant, can be – relatively simple – lifted from the planter. Completely emptying the container is no longer necessary. This allows you to quickly remove plants that are not hardy from an outdoor container for the winter. But also for the distribution of plants, temporary decorations for events or seasonal themes, liners are indispensable because they facilitate the workflow and save precious time. In addition the plant liner itself can be repeatedly cleaned and reused. The liner is available in 31 different models, so that for each container – whether large or small, shallow or deep – a suitable insert is provided.
