Planter with bamboo

Planter with bamboo as perfect privacy protection

No matter whether terrace, roof terrace, balcony or a separate Area in the garden - everyone wants a certain amount of privacy. Here are chic plant pots with opaque planting an ideal problem solver, especially when it comes to optimal privacy protection from the neighbour. So every property boundary with an elegant separation by fresh green right to the suitable oasis of well-being.

What is the right shape for plant pots?

The classic is, of course, a rectangular shape, where, depending on the surface area, perhaps only one or two elements are needed as room dividers. However, prima square shapes are also suitable as a partition, such as planters in 60 x 60 cm, in which three or four elements are placed next to each other with small gaps between them. This creates a row which, when planted with evergreen bamboo, beautifies the terrace all year round and, despite its room divider function, creates a real ambience in the garden.

Which type of bamboo is suitable?

A very good choice thanks to the very dense foliage are species of the Fargesia genus, which reach heights of between 1.5 m and 6 m. These are also hardy bamboo varieties that survive the winter without any major protection. Depending on the type of bamboo, winter or frost hardnesses can be as low as -30 degrees Celsius and more. Apart from the questions, there are also Phyllostachys species, which belong to the more frost-resistant bamboo species. Even in cold winters, these varieties are evergreen, but they also need irrigation in winter.

What should be taken into account when choosing the plant pot?

If the bamboo is to be a good visual protection in the long term and remain opaque after growing, it must be watered regularly and fertilized sufficiently. Therefore the plant pot should also be resistant to fertiliser, so that even after years there are no stains or edges in the form of lime deposits. Only a few plant pots keep what the manufacturers promise.

So which planters are suitable for bamboo?

In addition to the quality and the material used, the planter boxes should always be large enough for the planting volume. This is especially important to be able to withstand the growth of the root ball even after years. Once a beautiful, opaque green wall at an appropriate height has been created after planting, the bamboo needs sufficient space at the root. And a drainage layer is always important to ensure water drainage and to avoid waterlogging.

How much planting volume is required for good drainage?

When planting bamboo, you should create a sufficiently high drainage of expanded clay or coarse gravel with approx. 15-20 cm, preferably with a fleece for good water drainage, which is also very important to avoid waterlogging. The decorative dividers from the DIVISION PLUS series already have an integrated intermediate floor, which ensures a good water run-off and at the same time saves a lot of time, because you don't have to fill the whole room divider up to the top with substrate, expanded clay or gravel. A well thought-out system and quality that is not comparable with plant boxes from DIY stores or garden centre chains.

Weatherproof, hardy, frost-proof or frost-resistant?

Actually, the customer only wants to know whether the planter will survive the first winter without bursting or cracking. Many dealers therefore promise the customer a certain longevity with partly very different language usage. Cheap goods from China, Vietnam are often advertised as robust, although the importers themselves do not know which raw material was used. Fiberclay, for example, a partly undefined mix of clay paste, is often reinforced with jute mats to save costs compared to fiberglass mats. These materials absorb moisture and accordingly, frost resistance can never be said with a clear conscience.

Concrete buckets that really work!

In the age of modern fair-faced concrete in and on buildings, the trend towards concrete plant pots is unmistakable. On every terrace that has already used concrete slabs, plant pots made of real concrete are of course particularly suitable. In sizes of 60 x 60 cm perfectly matched to the existing concrete slabs, in natural grey or anthracite, planted with bamboo and illuminated from below in the evening, the cubes stylishly contribute to the ambience in the garden. The "concrete look" should not be confused with real concrete. Because it is completely hydrophobic - i.e. impermeable to water - a guarantee for robust quality, even in winter. Furthermore, tubs made of real concrete are much more stable than light fibreglass planters, so they stand safely in the garden or on the terrace in all weathers.

Further advantages over conventional flower boxes on the market

For most models of the DIVISION PLUS series there are threaded sleeves as standard, with which heavy-duty castors can be easily retrofitted as an option. This prevents stains on the floors of wooden terraces or paving stones caused by condensation or condensation water. The concealed castors also make the vessels appear to float and can be easily moved if the room dividers are needed elsewhere in the garden or on the terrace. Perfect not only for private households, but also for cafés and restaurants that constantly use their flower pots as partitions and need to move them variably depending on their use and requirements. The plant boxes are also popular in the catering area of hotels, in entrance areas or even in areas of seating areas of the bar, lobby or car park, where they are used as partitions and privacy screens. Very tasteful and aesthetic, the green walls contribute to the atmosphere and stylish ambience.

Not only for garden, terrace or balcony

Also in interiors, such as offices, the planters are often used to create a border. Here, a room divider between workstations can work wonders, not only in terms of the indoor climate, but also in terms of acoustics. In open-plan offices, too, numerous studies have shown that the feel-good atmosphere also leads to less sick leave. Tasteful concrete elements that architects, planners and interior designers are increasingly using as standard in modern office design. In addition to employees, however, visitors to an office will also be surprised at how acoustics improve once room dividers with matching planting have been installed. This is because plants absorb sound so well that there are several reasons for integrating green walls into offices due to the improved room acoustics.

In private areas and households, it is increasingly a question of the harmonious separation of kitchen and dining room or living room. Often very decorative laminating is used here, whereby in the garden or on the terrace, privacy is of course the main focus. But increasingly the XXL versions of the planters are used as herb beds or raised beds. No matter whether narrow or long, high or low, these real eye-catchers are exclusive but at the same time affordable. Because quality can also be affordable.
