Wooden planters for outdoor use

It is impossible to imagine garden design without wood as a natural material. The warm colour of wood radiates warmth and cosiness.

But not only garden furniture, arbours and carports are made from the coveted natural product. Wood is also very popular for plant pots.

Actually, it's pretty obvious. Plants, as a product of nature, come into their own in a natural product, such as a wooden tub. The green of the plants and the warm, brown natural colour tone of a wooden flower pot harmonise with each other in an excellent way.

The striking, fascinating grains of the most diverse types of wood make wood products lively and unique. A wooden plant pot for outside use will always attract admiring glances with its natural flair.

Garden furniture, planters, wooden terraces: all this creates a harmonious overall picture that makes the hearts - especially of nature lovers - beat faster.

With wooden planters you can give your garden a rustic look. But you can also give your green living room a modern and elegant touch with stylish wooden planters - e.g. with a teak plant pot.

fleur ami has interesting solutions for you in this latter area. Let fleur ami inspire you in the online shop.

Plant pot wood winterproof

Whether your wooden planter is round, high, square or rectangular - the beautiful, natural material makes your planters a decorative eye-catcher. To ensure that the chic look of your plant pots is preserved for a long time, you should check in good time whether your plant pots are winterproof.

Hardwoods such as acacia and teak are particularly weather-resistant. Even without special care, wooden buckets made from these types of wood can withstand even adverse weather conditions and can be left outside all year round without hesitation.

Softer wood, on the other hand, reacts much more sensitively to moisture and frost. However, a pre-treatment in the form of pressure impregnation or regular protective coatings make your favourite piece of wood much more resistant and increase its life span considerably.

When in doubt, you better play it safe. If you have the possibility to store your plant pots during the winter without any problems, you should do so. But make sure that the winter storage is dry, cool and well ventilated.

High planters made of wood as visual protection

As kind as your neighbor may be... Especially those who have terraced house gardens close to each other would like to enjoy their terrace undisturbed and without direct eye contact to their neighbours.

Of course you can plant a hedge as a privacy screen. More beautiful and also more flexible, however, is a partition wall made of decorative plant pots.

Wooden planters

Choose attractive wooden planters - rectangular, narrow and high - place them next to each other at the boundary of your property and plant the high planters individually and according to your needs.

Planter boxes with a stainless steel frame are particularly elegant. The privacy screen, which is to catch the eyes of the neighbour, thus becomes a noble eye-catcher of your garden.

Wooden planters are often used as room dividers, and room dividers play a particularly important role in outdoor catering.

Plant boxes can be used to separate areas from one another and create cosy niches. Particularly practical here are elements that can be moved on castors and used flexibly.

Even in large private gardens, green decorative partitions can provide more structure. Functionality can thus be combined with visually appealing design.

Planter wood on rollers

A round or square, beautifully planted wooden plant pot is a great eye-catcher in one corner of the terrace. However, if you need or want to move this wooden planter XXL to the side, you will find that this is hardly possible.

You can have it easier. A set of castors, concealed under the pot, makes moving large planters a breeze. If the planter is not already equipped with castors as standard, you can purchase a castor base as a useful accessory separately.

Without effort, even oversized planters can then be arranged differently from time to time to set new accents. No lifting & no lumbago - this is how garden design is fun!

Plant pot as raised bed

A raised bed has many positive characteristics. It sets accents in the garden or on the balcony, it can be planted comfortably in an upright position and it offers the plants optimal growing conditions.

The big advantage is that a raised bed takes up relatively little space and can stand almost anywhere. Even a city dweller can fulfil his or her wish for a herb or vegetable bed by placing a raised bed on the balcony. However, the statics on the balcony must be right!

In the garden, raised beds are popular design elements. They can act as a privacy screen, demarcate areas or simply serve as a decorative eye-catcher.

The elegant high teak planters in combination with stainless steel frames from fleur ami are absolute eye-catchers. Matching fibreglass inserts facilitate planting and also make the pots leak-proof.

So you can plant your high wooden tub without any problems. Whether you decide on colourful flowers, fresh herbs or attractive green plants - everything finds its place in the raised bed.

Which wood for planters?

Which type of wood is ultimately preferred depends on taste, the way it is used and also on the available budget. In general, it can be said that softer wood species such as pine and spruce are more sensitive than harder wood species.

If you choose planters made of softer woods, the planters must be weatherproofed with an oil treatment or with paints. Some people combine the necessary with the pleasant. If there is a desire for change, the planter is simply sanded down and repainted white, neutral or coloured.

If you choose teak as the material for the planters, you don't have to worry so much about weather resistance and maintenance. Teak is an extremely robust wood that is resistant to moisture and frost.

fleur ami has high-quality teak planters in natural brown or grey vintage look. The noble wood grain and the modern shapes of the offered planters give your garden that certain something.

Proper care of planters

Planters made of soft wood require much more care than planters made of hard wood, such as teak. It should be self-evident that all planters - no matter what material they are made of - should be regularly cleaned of dirt with a hand brush or brush.

Plant pots made of pine wood and comparable wood species also require a new coat of paint at regular intervals. Untreated wood is very sensitive and could be damaged by permanent moisture.

Teak vessels, on the other hand, only need to be oiled every one or two years if you do not like the grey patina that develops over time. However, this is rather a visual problem.
