TRENDS UP WEST - follow-up report spring 2023

"The plan worked!"

No chance for the winter blues! With the tailwind from Frankfurt, the consumer goods sector was looking forward to a stylish follow-up in Düsseldorf. Because at TRENDS UP WEST, 150 hip lifestyle and interior labels from all product segments showed a best-of for spring and summer 2023 from 11 to 13 February.

The more than 2,000 guests at Areal Böhler met big names such as Fiskars, (who did not exhibit at Ambiente), Gift Company, Räder or PPD as well as newcomers such as Eulenschnitt, the F&H Group or Fairwerk. Due to the short distance to Ambiente - in 2024 it will be two weeks again - there had been some new appointments in the exhibitor field, but this did not change anything in terms of quality and the balanced mix of product ranges. With over 150 brands in the Alte Schmiedehalle, the event organised by Willo Blome (blomus), Florian Burghard (Sompex) and Marco Hübecker (fleur ami) was accordingly fully booked again.

"We can act from a position of strength because the event has established itself with charm and high quality and because of the early Ambiente date it will be even more interesting for more brands to come to Düsseldorf in February in 2024. The set-up is also already right for this year's August date," says Willo Blome.

The organisers had opted for a flat admission fee at an early stage in order to be able to plan the catering in particular more precisely. This strategy worked out perfectly, as there were 2,100 pre-registrations for the more than 2,000 visitors. Thus, there were very few registered persons who did not show up at the Areal Böhler. The quality of the food and drinks was highlighted by exhibitors and guests - especially the Belgian waffles developed into a must-eat in the catering zone. "On the one hand, we want everyone to feel completely at home here, and on the other hand, we want to act sustainably and not waste any resources. We have succeeded very well in this balancing act with the ticket introduction and we have received a lot of positive feedback for it," reports Marco Hübecker.

The fact that TRENDS UP WEST is a unique event in terms of atmosphere and architecture is increasingly reflected in the social networks. On Instagram in particular, more than 100 posts were posted on the three days of the fair by good-humoured visitors reporting on their Düsseldorf trip - in perfect work-life balance. The account @trendsupwest is now already followed by almost 1,500 people.

A popular posting topic was the "trend show area" designed by style and POS expert Gabriela Kaiser. There, retailers found creative suggestions on how to stage colour and assortment packages in an eye-catching way on the sales floors - and without much effort. "The lifestyle and interior segment has shown itself from its best side over the past three days at Areal Böhler. Here, retailers get important impulses to be able to market inspiring, extraordinary and successful assortments and to secure a unique position in competition," Florian Burghard is pleased to say. Now all eyes are already on the Summer Edition from 12 to 14 August 2023. There will also be an Early Bird discount for the Summer Edition with a ticket price of €10, after which admission will cost €20. Catering and parking remain free of charge.
